Q1 2024 Social Networking App Trends in Europe

Europe's social networking scene has seen various trends among the top apps in the first quarter of 2024. Here's a snapshot of their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

Threads, an Instagram app started the quarter with approximately 2.3M downloads, which saw a decline to 1.4M by the end of March. Weekly active users began at 6.3M and fluctuated, reaching a peak of 6.7M in mid-March before slightly dipping to 6.7M.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained steady downloads, starting from around 1.9M and ending the quarter at 1.6M. Revenue showed minor fluctuations, hovering around the 130s in thousands of USD, and weekly active users saw a steady increase from 399M to 407M.

Telegram Messenger also had a consistent start with downloads at 1.7M, dipping to 1.6M towards the quarter's end. Revenue experienced a rise from 988K USD to over 1M USD in mid-February, followed by a slight decrease. Weekly active users showed growth from 143M to nearly 146M.

Facebook saw an interesting spike in downloads in late February, jumping from 1.1M to 2.3M, then steadying to 1.2M. Revenue trends were mixed, with peaks and troughs ranging from 236K USD to 326K USD. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 266M and ending at 261M.

Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out experienced a slight decrease in downloads from 623K to 527K. Revenue was more variable, with a notable peak of 535K USD in late February. Weekly active users showed a slight increase from 46M to 47M.
